Signature Renditions: Jean-Gabriel Pageau

Another card from the Signature Renditions insert set in 2013-14 The Cup:

Jean-Gabriel Pageau is a second-year center in the Ottawa Senators organization who has spent this season bouncing between the AHL and the NHL. He's played 23 games with the big club so far this year, scoring two goals and five assists. He is, by a wide margin, the most obscure player with a Signature Renditions cards.

But who cares, when the card looks this good? Pageau and his vivid red jersey in the foreground, a few more Sens on the bench in the background painted (well, digitally altered anyway) with a bit of an artistic flair, and a big, bold signature written in gold ink -- with his number added for good measure. And the card commemorates a moment that Pageau will certainly remember for the rest of his life: The hat trick he scored against the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the playoffs last year, making him only the second player in modern Senators history to score three goals in a playoff game. (Sens legend Daniel Alfredsson is the other.)

It's probably no surprise, but this was the cheapest SR card I've managed to find yet: Including shipping, it came out to less than $13. While Pageau hasn't yet been able to stick full-time with the Senators, he's played very well in the AHL and looks to be in line for a permanent gig in Ottawa next season. So he may yet carve out a nice career for himself.
