I mentioned in the last post that I'm a sucker for framed parallels, particularly those where the color of the frame matches the image in the card. Well that goes quintuple for cards of Blue Jays in blue frames.
This Mark Buehrle, from 2013 Gypsy Queen, was the first blue-framed Blue Jay I ever found. Came across it while flipping through a team box at one of the two card shops around here. It set me back 75 cents, if memory serves, and it was my favorite card I took home that day. Each of these blue framed Gypsy Queen parallels are numbered to 499.
Naturally, I then hopped on COMC to see what else I could find. My only rule of thumb was that I wouldn't pay more than $1 per card. Here's Jose Bautista.
Josh Johnson.
Jose Reyes. (That ill-fated trade with the Marlins is well-represented in this particular team set.)
Brett Lawrie.
Finally, Brandon Morrow to complete the 2013 team set. The parallel version, anyway, as I think there are one or two other Blue Jays who had base cards in the set but for some reason were never given blue framed parallels. Interesting that the four of the six are no longer with the team, even though these cards are from just three seasons ago.
I've managed to find one reasonably priced blue-framed parallel from 2014 Gypsy Queen. Normally, I love cards that feature the Jays' red Canada Day jerseys, but this is one of the rare cases where I would have preferred it if they had chosen a picture of R.A. in a regular jersey. Thank goodness for the blue high socks!
